After the arrest of four men allegedly dealing in heroin, a ward councillor has revealed a sharp increase in drug and alcohol abuse in Mowbray.
Four Nigerians yesterday have appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates Court. Police arrested the men on Tuesday after seizing 4kg of heroin worth R450 000.
Ward councillor Cedric Thomas told a daily newspaper that the area was becoming the main attraction of dealing in drugs.
Captain Billy Jones could not confirm the increase of drug and alcohol abuse, but did say more police patrols and crime preventions are taking in place in the Mowbray area.
There has also been an appeal to communities to assist the police in catching these criminals in the area.
