Johannesburg Emergency services spokesperson, Malcolm Midgeley, has warned train surfers in Soweto have been warned that they’re toying with death. Toy

This comes following a 15-year old who was killed while train surfing.

A group of boys said they were train surfing in memory of three friends who died doing the same thing last Friday. One boy fell off the train and died on the scene.

Train surfing entails climbing on the roof of a moving railway carriage, or climbing in and out of a train as it is moving.

This emerged at the launch of the railway safety regulatory inspection body in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

The report said an estimated 5000 railway police will be appointed next year to help limit problems like train surfing.
