The City of Cape Town will be inviting township tour operators, Cape Town Routes Unlimited and other township hospitality stakeholders to a meeting in the Council Chambers on Friday December 8th.
A proposal will be put forth to establish fixed routes from which they will not deviate, so that Metro Police will be able to patrol those routes during the high tourist season.
Tourism is becoming an important source of revenue and empowerment for disadvantaged areas of the city and the Council doesn’t want visitors to be discouraged because of incidents of the kind that occurred this past week.
