A 40-year-old police constable from Gugulethu shot his ex-wife, before turning the firearm on himself in front of the Capetonian Hotel this morning.
The unknown constable, based at the VIP Protection Services went to the hotel in Thibualt Square, Cape Town where his ex-wife works as a chef.
“He shot her twice to the chest before turning the firearm to himself, sustaining a single bullet wound to the head, they both died on the scene,” says police spokesperson, Captain Randall Stoffels.
Stoffels added that bystanders told police that the couple were arguing before shots were fired.
“A murder and inquest case docket has been opened for investigation,” says Stoffels.
Police will release particulars of both deceased at a later stage.
