The search for the 23-year-old fisherman, Christo Adams, whose boat capsized in Hout Bay last Tuesday (August 7th) still continues.
The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says various rescue crafts and mobile units will be assisting in the search of Adams.
“The Hout Bay NSRI, South African Police Service and their Dive Unit, the Metro Red Cross AMS helicopter, Metro Ambulance and Rescue Services and two jet-ski’s has agreed to help,” says NSRI media spokesperson Craig Lambinon.
Lambinon added that the Police Dive Unit has returned to the scene at various occasions following the day of the accident when Adams and Toby Richter’s boat capsized about 75 metres from the Hout Bay shore. Both tried to swim to safety, only Richter made it.
“The area can only be searched depending on tide and sea conditions, so far seven dive searches has been done to no avail,” says Lambinon.
He added that the cold fronts hitting the Cape since the day of the incident have hampered the search.
“Thus far only wreckage from the boat and pieces of clothing has been discovered. The clothing has been given to the family,” says Lambinon.
Lambinon also says that the Police Dive Unit is continuing with the search for Adams.
