Last night the South African cricketers of the year were named. The five players that received the award are Paul Harris, Gulam Bodi, Justin Kemp, Charl Langeveldt and Morne van Wyk.
For the spin sensation Paul Harris the award came as a late birthday present as the tall left arm slow bowler turned 29 on Friday.
Harris who was elected for the national side at the start of the year excelled against the home series against India and the recent away series in Pakistan.
Batsman Gulam Bodi made a dramatic comeback when he earned his international one-day colours after missing out on a tour six years ag
o.Power hitter Justin Kemp earned his award after a explosive season with the bat, including a match winning one-day international century against India in Cape Town and being appointed as the one-day team vice-captain.
Swing bowler Charl Langeveldt made himself a valuable recipient of the award for his consistent performance in the one day international side especially for his performance at the Cricket World Cup in West Indies.
Morne van Wyk received his award for his performances in the domestic cricket scene, being the top scorer in both the Standard Bank Pro 20 series and the MTN Domestic championship.
All the award recipients were first time nominees.
