The South African communist Party supports the march for TB that is going to be lead by the Treatment Action Campaign to the World TB conference being held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The march is for increased resources for research and treatment of TB and other diseases affect poor countries in Africa and other parts of the world.
“The TB epidemic is receiving far less resources and attention from the international community compared to Avian Flu (bird flu) and the SARS breakout of a few years ago,” according to the TAC.
The march starts at 4pm today at St. Georges Cathedral in Cape Town’s CBD.
We see this campaign as part of our programme to address the issues of health and service delivery in general,” says the SACP District Secretary, Luthando Nogcinisa.
Nogcinisa said that they are fully in support of the demands in the programme that is proposed by the TAC and other stakeholders.
