On Sunday morning a 33 year-old man was fatally wounded and two Nigerian men seriously wounded during a shooting incident at a premises on the corner of Albert and Davidson Roads in Woodstock.
“It is alleged that the deceased came to the premises to sell a laptop and computer to the two Nigerian men. An argument arose between the two men which resulted in a physical confrontation. The deceased allegedly drew a firearm then shot and wounded the two Nigerian men both in their arms and legs,” says Superintendent Billy Jones.
According to Jones, during the scuffle one of the men was able to get a hold of the firearm. He then shot and wounded the deceased in the chest and left side. The deceased passed away on the scene. The two Nigerian men are currently in a serious, but stable condition in a nearby hospital.
“We have seized the firearm that was used and it will be sent for forensic testing. It is confirmed to be reported stolen in Wynberg during September 2006. We have also seized two laptop computers, five cellular phones and two hi-fi systems that were found inside the room,” explains Jones.
A murder case docket was registered in connection with the death of the 33 year-old (Ashley Jones) and a possession of suspected stolen property case-docket that was registered in connection with the items seized on at the scene. The investigation continues.
