The Metro Police Department is to continuing its highly successful “Operation Coca” and with focus that was on high visibility patrols, traffic and by-law enforcement.
The operation was conducted in the Tygerberg-Bellville area.
Metro Police Spokesperson Nowellern Petersen said that the operation had resulted in the arrest of 17 people for outstanding traffic warrants and 200 traffic fines were issued
Of the 299 traffic issues 137 fined were motorists who were unlicensed and 74 were fined for unlicensed vehicles.
“But this is not enough to curb the problem in our roads” said Petersen.
