South Africa’s electricity utility Eskom says things are looking good as no loadshedding is expected.
“No loadshedding is expected for today (Monday) or for the rest of the week, but that does depend on the continuing good performance of our power stations. If there is any problem picked up we will certainly notify the public - but at this stage it is looking good,” says Eskom’s Managing Director of demand side management, Andrew Etzinger.
Etzinger says electricity supply in the country is manageable at the moment, but that consumers should still be cautious when it comes to their electricity use.
“It is still very tight and we ask consumers to please use electricity sparingly so that we can further increase our reserve margins and further decrease the chance of any loadshedding this week,” says Etzinger.
