A 25 - year - old man has been reported missing in Pine Lake Marina between Wilderness and Knysna on Saturday afternoon.
“It appears from reports that three females, aged in their mid to late 20’s and two men a 35 year old and a 25 year old, had launched two small row boats with five horse power motors and once well onto the lake they allegedly tied the boats together and the two men went swimming,” says Hennie Niecheus, Wilderness Station Commander.
According to Niecheus it seemed, that winds blew, the boats away from the men who tried to swim after the boats while shouting to the girls to get the engines started and move over to them.
“The girls couldn’t get the motors started and the 35 year old male eventually reached the boats but by then the 25 year old male, believed to be from Gansbaai, had disappeared beneath the water.
According NSRI national spokesperson Craig Lambinon a full-scale search, including a dive search by police divers, has showed no sign of the man who is missing and is presumed to have drowned.
“Police divers will continue to search at first light,” says Lambinon.
