The final phase of the consultation process on proposals to rename some of the City's streets is in progress, this according to the City of Cape Town.
“We were advised to apply very rigorous consultation rather than rushing to meet a deadline,” says City spokesperson, Owen Kinnahan.
This will ensure that all parties have the opportunity to consider the proposals thoroughly.
“The final set of proposals will be considered by Council at its meeting at the end of March, where each will be voted on individually and the approved name changes will then be implemented,” adds Kinnahan.
Some proposals that were made for change is Long Street to Reverend Theo Kotze Street, JB Hertzog Blvd to Nelson Mandela Blvd and Jan Smuts Drive to Dullah Omar Drive.
