The Cape Town Traffic Services department had laid charges against a motorist for committing offences along the N1 highway.

This follows after Ronel Roux accused one of the city traffic officers for manhandling her on the N1 near Tygervalley on the 2nd of March.

The motorist claimed that traffic officers manhandled her after taking her into custody after arresting her in front of her children.

City Traffic Services spokesperson Searle Johannes says that a preliminary investigation revealed that the official who arrested the woman was following procedure and never manhandled her.

Johannes said that the woman was arrested on the charges of:

§ Failing to keep left on a freeway
§ Disobeying a lawful instruction
§ Reckless and negligent driving
§ Assault
§ Failing to supply name and address and Theft

“At no time, while in custody of the traffic officer, was she searched or manhandled,” says Johannes.

Johannes elaborated further that if Roux wishes to lay charges through the SAPS, she may do so.
