The Department of Health’s Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre (WCRC) will host a jazz concert on 13 April 2008.

A statement from the WCRC says the event is aimed at raising funds for further development of the Centre; Health and Wellness Centre and will take place at Maynardville open-air theatre.

The WRC renders services to people with physical disabilities in the entire Western Cape and have identified the need for health promotion and preventive services to cater for the health and wellness needs of clients.

“We did research and our findings show that we need to focus on more health promotion, especially for persons with disabilities in the province. In response we have arranged a wonderful jazz event to raise funds to further develop the Health and Wellness Centre,” says Patron of the H&WC, Rosieda Shabodien.

She adds that the Centre will promote and make accessible activities such as hydro pool, gymnasium, basketball court as well as complimentary health therapies. “The time has come to ensure that people with disabilities have access to world-class facilities that will have a positive impact on the quality of their lives.”

Some of the acts include Amanda Tiffin and her Little Big band; and Mamavox.
