The Democratic Alliance has requested the Speaker of Parliament to investigate the mishandling of Scorpion submissions.
The Chairpersons of the Justice and Safety & Security Portfolio Committee claim they only received 114 submissions, while the DA hand delivered 7 978 written submissions and 98,000 petition signatures to the two Portfolio Committees dealing with the Scorpions legislation before the deadline.
DA Spokesperson , Lindiwe Mazibuko, said that during the first day of the public hearings of the legislations, the committee chairperson refused to give and explanation for their rejections for this massive flood of input by the public.
“This issue is now bigger than the urgent and very important fight to save the Scorpions.”
