Black Sash welcomes child support grant extension

The Black Sash they welcome the extension of the child support grant from 14 to 18 years which will be introduced this year.

Health minister Barbara Hogan said that roughly 12,5 million South Africans receive Social grants. Ratula Beukman from Black Sash said they have been fighting for extension of child support for the past decade.

Beukman said it was for the first time the cabinet has made this decision public.

For now they are going to and see if the regulation of child support is clear.

“But at this time we take this serious commitment by the executive” and “we await regulations that relate to this commitment.
