The 2009 election was declared free and fair by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as well as election observers.
After the long wait, the province is eagerly anticipating the final election results for the Western Cape. The results were expected to be released by late yesterday afternoon, but following unexpected technical as well as logistical problems, the IEC hopes to have them by around 17h00 this evening.
In the hotly contested province, the Democratic Alliance (DA)has once again secured the Western Cape in the fourth democratic election. This came as no surprise for the Party, who were convinced of an outright win. However, only the official results will confirm what percentage the DA will achieve.
