Cape Town fire services have confirmed that they would continue to monitor the Plattekloof hills despite reports that the fire has been extinguished. The bush fire started on Sunday near the Plattekloof Reservoir and spread as far as Plattekloof Village Shopping Centre.
“We had eight fire vehicles on scene and the fire was brought under control in the early hours of this morning and approximately an hour and a half ago we sent all the vehicles back,” said Fire Service’s Theo Layne
“The fire has been extinguished; however we will be doing patrols there just to make sure that there are no flare ups or hot spots,” said Layne
