Police inspector arrested for possession ammunition

A 37 year old police inspector based in Millerton appeared in the Hermanu’s magistrate court on Tuesday, were she faced charges of illegal possession of ammunition and theft of state property without permission.

Superintendent Billy Jones says she was arrested over the past week at a house in Herman’s after members of the Hermanus police obtain a search warrant to search the premises.


The police seize 3 769 rounds of various ammunition, 36 rounds of blank ammunition and 44 rubber bullets as well as 150 flair and 7 smoke granites, 8 bullet proof jackets and 5 pepper sprays, says Jones.

“The member joined the Milnerton police after she was transfer in Gauteng and the police instituted internal displinary and the police have recommended suspension.”


She was granted bail of 1000 and she will again appear in court on the 25 June 2009.

This is an awful lot of ammunition, but we must remember that people have the second amendment right to own and possess guns and ammunition unless they do illegals things with the weapons.
