Three suspects have been arrested in Khayelitsha in connection with the attack of an off duty policemen that was attacked in Site C Khayelitsha over the weekend.
“One of the suspect was arrested after he came to the Khayelitsha police station to lay a charge and he was immediately arrested.
“The suspects, aged 27, 18 and 19 years, currently remains in police custody and will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court on the mentioned charges," said Police spokesperson Anniker van de Vyfer.
The investigating officer, Inspector Christa Swart, immediately commenced with an investigation.
Her efforts, together with a dedicated team of police members, consisting of the following units - Khayelitsha Crime Combating Unit and Crime Prevention, Khayelitsha Detectives and Station and Provincial Media Centre, eventually paid-off.
The suspects are to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate court soon.
The police constable has been released from hospital and will have to go through a lengthy recovery process.
