The Democratic Alliance has laid a criminal charge of intimidation and a complaint of hate speech with the Equality Court against the Free State African National Congress Youth League chairperson Thebe Meeko.

He is reported to have said that University of the Free State vice chancellor Jonathan Jansen should be “shot and killed because he is a racist”.

Meeko was speaking during a protest yesterday at the court appearance of UFS students who had made a video humiliating women workers.

The DA’s Wilmot James says Meeko’s statement is incitement to cause Jansen physical harm.
