All 360 lights within the Green Point stadium will be switched on around half past seven tonight.
This means that Capetonians who will be around the city and those who can be on signal hill will view a spectacular display.
Director of Communications for the city Pieter Cronje says the lights will illuminate the pitch. They will be individual focused and aimed at a particular spot on the pitch.
Conje went on saying over the next few days more lights will be switched on to test if they are all working.
“By Tuesday we will switch all the external lights of the stadium,” said Cronje.
The city says people who want to watch tonight’s big switch on, should bear in mind that the outer façade, which softens the glow, is not yet complete. With the fine tuning of the lights the brightness will be reduced and the stadium should give off a pink glow.
