A national defence force soldier has been arrested for allegedly shooting a Sheriff of the Court and causing a locksmith to fall from a flat in Pretoria.
Police say the incident occurred at the Read Towers yesterday morning when the sheriff and the locksmith visited the 40 year old soldier at his flats with the intend to confiscate some of his movable assets.
The locksmith opened the door of third floor flat and both men introduced themselves to the soldier. The soldier drew his service pistol and fired one shot hitting the sheriff in the stomach.
The locksmith tried to flee but fell to the second floor of the building breaking his right leg and hand in the process.
The soldier locked himself in his flat and a police hostage negotiator had to be called in. The soldier surrendered after two hours and the wounded victims were taken to hospital.
