The prosecution in the corruption trial of former police commissioner Jackie Selebi is opposing a bid to get the judge in the case recused.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga says the state would be filing heads of argument in the South Gauteng High Court today contesting the defence's bid to oust Judge Meyer Joffe.

The recusal application will be heard when proceedings resume tomorrow.

Media reports that Selebi wants Joffe recused because he suspects the judge is biased against him.
