The University of the Free State has dropped charges against the four students who sparked an outcry for feeding residence staff urine and filming the incident.
Speaking at his inauguration the University’s new rector and vice-chancellor Jonathan Jansen apologised to the country for what the students had done to workers at the Reitz residence in 2007.
A video showed the four forcing cleaning staff to down a bottle of beer, run a race and then kneel to eat meat which had been urinated upon.
Jansen said the decision was part of his blueprint to transform the University. He said the University will pay reparations to the staff.

There is no university or any institution in the world that will open its doors for you, after you have willfully done (and video recorded) a caper like that.... mixing food with human excrement and giving it to trusting and loving elderly (black) women!
White culture respects its women. Anyone who does otherwise is a PERVERT!
The caper itself says a lot about the values of the 4 boys (read: not all white peopel!)and Prof Jansen seeks to condone it at the expense of our moral well sense of justice!
I fail to see how white racial interests (tgenerally in South Africa) can be served by condoning such a stupid barbaric and criminal act of inhuman perversity; certainly only Prof Jansen sees merit in that.
It is unfair for Prof Jansen to trade with the dignity of all black people in South Africa in such a convenient transaction of personal fame: fame in the sense of the culprits escaping the consequences of their racist acts. I fail to see any merit in how his decision will advance racial reconciliation. Reconciliation is a not blunt instrument applied without due regard to context and interests of persons involved.
The 4 white students have excluded themselves from the circle of civilised values and norms. No university can admit them without tarnishing its reputation, values and image!
Prof Jansen was never appointed a One-man Human Rights Commission. I challenge him to reveal the process and people who made this decision. We are not even aware what is the quid pro quo of this transaction in which he stands to gain from white support. But I know all sensible white people dont want to be compromised by Prof Jansen as if their integrity depended on the condonation of the actions of the 4 misuguided criminals!
There is not a single decent civilised white person who condones this act of irrational racist perversion. Anyone who dabbles in excrement is a psychotic pervert; and a university is not the place to welcome them.
I fully agree that Prof Jansen traded the dignity of all black people in South Africa for a convenient transaction of personal fame.
May he hang his head in shame, the University should recall him and hopefully no dignified institute in this country would want to have him as a head.
As a young person, I'm disgusted by his action.Forgiveness my foot!!!
