CAA probe Free State plane crash

The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating yesterday’s plane crash which claimed the lives of four people in Harrismith in the Free State.

The plane crashed into the side of the Platberg Mountain in thick mist instantly killing two men and two women.

It is understood there was a technical problem that lead to the pilot diverting from his route towards Margate.

The aeroplane crashed into a very inaccessible part of the mountain.

According to reports the victims were Dr Johan Adriaan Venter, from Vereeniging, his wife Elzabé, both aged 61, their son Christiaan and his wife Christine, both aged 29 and both chartered accountants.
