A hostage drama in Pietermaritzberg has ended in tragedy after a man killed his wife before turning the gun on himself yesterday.
Kwazulu-Natal paramedics say bystanders reported that a man believed to be in his thirties took his wife hostage in their shack before taking her life and then his own.
ER 24 paramedics arrived on the scene but found the couple already dead. Police are investigating a murder and suicide.
