A 23 year old Khayelitsha man has been arrested for rape and murder.

This is after a body of 25 year old female was found at I section yesterday morning.

It is alleged that the deceased was raped and strangled to death.

Police’s Inspector Siphokazi Mawisa says the body was discovered after two unknown males went to the mother of the deceased, to inform her that her daughter’s body is lying at a murder scene.

“They refused to give their names, but one of the males was known to the mother,” she said.

Mawisa adds the mother provided the police with the address of the known male and he was taken in for questioning and later arrested.

Police are still waiting for the DNA test for comparison.

The suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on a charge of rape and murder.

The other suspect is still at large.
