Former health minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will be honoured with a special official funeral when she is laid to rest.
Media reports her son-in-law Martin Kingston as saying details were still being finalised.
The Presidency is dealing with the protocol involved, including whether flags will be flown at half mast in her honour.
69 year old Tshabalala-Msimang passed away in a Johannesburg clinic yesterday, following complications from her liver transplant two years ago.
Meanwhile, former president Thabo Mbeki arrived at the Msimang residence in Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria, this afternoon to pay his respects to his ally and friend.
Acting President Kgalema Motlanthe, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane are some of the other mourners supporting the family.
