A third person has been arrested as an accomplice in connection with the armed robbery at the Kenilworth Shopping Centre on Sunday.
A 21 year old man was arrested by Hawk investigators late last night at his home in Philippi-East.
“He allegedly borrowed his licensed firearm to the suspects knowing that they intended to commit the armed robbery in Kenilworth Centre,” said Inspector November Filander.
The firearm was seized by police after a shoot out in Repulse Road, Athlone, with the suspect who is still in hospital.
The two suspects ,aged 21 and 36 years old, will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today.
