Three people were killed and nine others seriously injured in an accident involving seven vehicles in Soshanguve last night.
Tshwane community safety department spokesman Console Tleane said a VW Polo collided with a cash-in-transit van on the Aubrey Matlala road early last night.
The two vehicles then lost control and hit five taxis at a makeshift taxi rank nearby.
A baby and two men who had been in one of the taxis were killed instantly.
Firefighters and paramedics had to use the jaws of life to remove their bodies.
Two of the victims sustained critical injuries, four were seriously injured and three others were treated for minor injuries.
