A new tradition will be introduced next month when the opening of Parliament takes place in the evening for the first time in history.
Parliamentary spokesperson Luzuko Jacobs says the institution received a request that the opening should take place on the Thursday evening, and not, as usual, on the Friday morning.
They have acceded to the request and President Jacob Zuma will be delivering his State of the Nation address on Thursday evening, the 11th of February.
It will be preceded by the usual military parade and red-carpet reception of members.
