49 year old man arrested for child pornography in Vredendal

A 49 year old man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault and possession of child pornography in Vredendal.

Police spokesperson Captain Carin Loock says it is alleged that a 15 year old male victim requested money from a male in front of a bank in Vredendal central business area. He then told the victim to wait for him and later picked him up in his vehicle and drove off in the direction of Vredendal North.

“The suspect parked his vehicle near a farm where he sexually assaulted the 15 year old victim.

“The suspect sped off in the direction of Vredendal after another vehicle approached them. The occupants of the vehicle then phoned the police who pulled off the suspicious vehicle,” said Captain Carin Loock.

After obtaining a search warrant police took the suspect for questioning and a search warrant for his resident was obtained and pornographic material was confiscated including a memory stick and a cell phone, he will appear in the Vredendal Magistrates’ Court tomorrow added Loock.
