Two police reservists are behind bars for allegedly stealing an Admission of Guilt Register at Strand SAPS on Saturday.
They were arrested yesterday after surveillance footage revealed that the two reservist constables were the last persons that used the register.
It is alleged that these reservists issued fines to suspects and then kept the money to themselves.
Police spokesperson Inspector Godfrey Olebogeng Tawana says after a thorough investigation a search warrant was obtained and on execution.
“Evidence of the crime was found in the residences of both the accused. A police bullet proof, forensic bags, alcohol kits and dockets were some of the articles that were confiscated,” said Tawana.
The suspects will appear in the Somerset West Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of theft and corruption.
Tawana says an internal investigation into the allegations will also be conducted.
