Ninety five have been arrested on various charges with one thousand two hundred and sixty eight people being searched and more than four hundred and fifty four shebeens closed in Nyanga.
Police spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi says Nyanga cluster police stations held a three day, weekend operation which started on Friday up until Monday.
“During the operation we searched three hundred and forty eight vehicles, hundred and seventy four stop and search were conducted, four premises searched and twenty eight fines were issued.
“We also confiscated two illegal firearms, thirteen mandrax tablets, three parcels of dagga and fifty stops of dagga,” said Sitshitshi.
Sitshitshi added that In Nyanga alone eighty suspects were arrested for charges ranging from possession of dagga, twenty five arrested for drunk driving, armed robbery, domestic violence, possession of stolen property, rape and house robbery.
One suspect was arrested with stolen property - a security evidence colour digital camera, CCTV Lens and a video processor said Sitshitshi.
