A joint crime prevention operation executed in Mitchell’s Plain netted 162 arrests at the weekend, among them 31 for drunk driving.
Warrant officer Ian Williams says traffic fines valued at over R80 000 were issued when road blocks were executed. 850 vehicles were also searched during which weapons and drugs were confiscated.
“Three firearms, 29 units of tik, including four tik lollies, six bags of dagga, 89 dagga cigarettes and various other contraband and liquor were confiscated,” said Williams.
