A report detailing the performance of the country’s drinking water quality management has ranked the Mother City, Durban and Johannesburg as the cities with the best drinking water in the country.
The assessment programme, known as the Blue Drop, is carried out by the Department of Water and Environmental Affairs annually and tests the quality of the country’s drinking water.
Blue Drop status is only afforded to cities obtaining the score of 95% or more.
Bitou municipality, Ekurhuleni, Pretoria and Mogale City also earned Blue Drop status.
