The South African Municipal Worker Union says the nationwide strike will continue despite earlier reports that an agreement had been made with the South African Local Government Association last night.
Samwu says all strike action continues pending an announcement this morning.
Workers have been on strike for more than a week, with numerous reports of protests turning violent.
Samwu says the workers are looking for Salga to introduce a uniform job-grading system.
