Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele today expressed his condolences to the families of the 16 people who were killed in an accident in Kwazulu-Natal this morning.
The incident occurred between a minibus taxi and a truck.
Ndebele says the department of transport knows that traffic law enforcement is inadequate at this time, but says they have mobilised to make the roads safer.
Ndebele says over one-thousand-500 unroadworthy vehicles have been confiscated in the last two months.
