Negotiations are underway between the South African Municaipal Workers Union and the South African Local Government Association in an attempt to end the nation wide strike.
During the violent protest yesterday the union made an announcement that it was concluding their week long strike.
Samwu began its strike demanding market-related salaries for lower and middle income employees on Monday.
Centre to their demands the union says municipal managers are overpaid and are awarding themselves perks.
Numerous incidents of were reported across the country where SAMWU marches were taking place.
Today in the Eastern Cape paramedics attended to 12 protestors who were wounded in clashes between them and the police.
The talks between the two parties are reportedly held in Midrand, in Johannesburg.
