Police are continuing with their search for missing new born baby.
The little girl was snatched from her mother Friday afternoon hardly a day after her arrival to the world.
Her 31 year old mother from New Flats, Samora Marchelle in Nyanga, reported her as kidnapped at the Mitchells Plain Police station.
Police spokesperson Captain Wayne Muller says while the mother was on her way to the taxi rank she was approached by an unidentified woman who offered to help her carry the baby girl to the rank.
“At the taxi rank she requests the victim for a cool drink. The mother left the baby in the suspects care and went to by the cool drink,” Muller said.
Muller says however when the mother returned the suspect with the baby was no where to be found.
Mitchells Plain police immediately launch an investigation into the disappearance of the missing girl.
“The baby was dressed in a small pink blanket, pink cap, white crawler and pink baby suit. The baby’s body is very hairy,” added Muller.
The suspect is known as Fiona Luke aged 20 years old and is fluent in Xhosa and Afrikaans.
Anybody who can assist with any information can contact the investigation officer Warrant Officer Josh Samuels of the Mitchells Plain FCS Unit at 083 548 4677.
