Police arrested a 62 year old woman for the illegal possession of abalone worth R200 000 in the Strand area yesterday.
The arrest comes after police acted on information received from the public.
“This morning Strand police reacted on information received from the public regarding a white bakkie off- loading illegal abalone at a house in Webb Street,” said Warrant Officer Olebogeng Tawana.
Police executed a search warrant and found 601 abalone hidden in the bathroom .
The suspect will appear before the Strand Magistrate’s Court today.
