Two people have been arrested for house breaking and robbery in Park Estate, Mowbray.
Police spokesperson Captain Angie Latchman says police received a received a report of suspicious persons on a property in Park Estate, Mowbray. On arrival at the scene, police spotted three unknown males, which then triggered off a foot chase between police and the suspects.
“Police eventually managed to apprehend two of the suspects near Rondebosch Common. One suspect managed to escape and is still at large.
“One of the arresting officers was injured during the chase on this right thigh, whilst jumping over a gate. The police officer has since been removed to hospital, where his condition has been described as stable,” said Latchman.
Captain Latchman says investigations at the scene have established that the suspects had broken into a residence in 4th Road in Park Estate were they removed several items of clothing before fleeing from the scene.
“The suspects have also been linked to a theft of motor vehicle which also occurred in the early hours of this morning in Heath Road in Mowbray, where a digital camera was removed,” said Latchman.
The suspects will appear at the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, on charges of housebreaking and theft out of motor vehicle.
