44 people have been arrested in and around Cape Town on various offences.
Metro Police Deputy Chief Yolanda faro says 44 people were arrested with 895 traffic fines issued to motorists.
“In Bonteheuwel, the Metro Police joint forces with members of the Bishop Lavis police station when they embarked on stabilising operations after a spate of gang violence, including numerous shooting incidents occurred in the area last week.
“In Mitchells Plain, 34 motorists were arrested for drunk driving when the Metro Police officers conducted roadblocks in AZ Berman Drive. On Friday evening 11 motorists were nabbed whilst on Saturday 23 motorists were arrested,” said Faro.
Faro added that this past weekend they also focused on traffic moving violations, in the Khayelitsha area they issued 654 traffic fines and arrested one person for drunk driving.
