Western Cape Education department MEC Donald Grant says they are some contingency plans for Grade 12 learner’s who will be affected by today’s strike.
Grant’s spokesperson Bronagh Casey says they are working together with schools on case to case basis monitoring the attendance figures or disruptions to the exams and contingency plans have been put together.
Meanwhile, addressing the media about the city’s plans yesterday Transport MEC Robin Carlisle said they have identified the hot spots taxi ranks where they will deploy law enforcement officials to prevent any form of violence and disruptions.
He said Khayelitsha, Mitchell’s Plain, Bellville and Wynberg will be the focus areas.
The strike is set to continue today, yet again leaving thousands of commuters around the city resorting to taxis and busses.
