One of Nelson Mandela’s great grand-children has died in a car accident.

The 13-year-old Zenani Mandela was travelling home by car after attending the Fifa World Cup Kick-Off Concert at Orlando Stadium when the accident occurred.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation says no one else was injured in the incident and the family has asked for privacy as they mourn their loss.

Zenani celebrated her 13th birthday two days ago and was one of Madiba’s nine great grand-children.

The Mandela Foundation said the family had asked for privacy.

Zenani was a grand-daughter of Zindzi Mandela, Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's daughter.
