A mother and her child have died after their Strandfontein shack caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
Cape Town’s Disaster Management Service’s Wilfred Solomons Johannes says another person has been rushed to hospital.
A 20 year old woman and her infant were burnt beyond recognition while a man who was also in the shack escaped with burn wounds.
He sustained serious burns and was transported to hospital.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
