Unidentified man dies after accident in Brackenfell

Public assistance is required after a man passed away in Tygerberg hospital after being rescued from a trench in Brackenfell.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Erica Crous says police were called to the scene of an accident up arrival they found a white Toyota Corolla, registration, on the left side of the road in Kruispad, Brackenfell. There was no-one in the vehicle.

Crous says according the information the driver of the Toyota was driving in the direction of Bottelary Road in Kruispad, when he lost control over his vehicle.

“He collided against the wall at the back of business premises, where the vehicle came to a standstill. There was very slight damage to the vehicle. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver of the vehicle was found in a trench in front of the vehicle. The trench is estimated to be approximately 3,5 to 4 meters deep.

“He was removed by ER24 and taken to Tygerberg hospital. At that stage, according to emergency services, the man was in a critical and unstable condition. It was unclear what type of injuries he sustained,” said Crous.

The man’s identity is still unknown. He is approximately six feet tall and is of big build. He was wearing a yellow and black t-shirt and black trousers. He was wearing brown sandals. He is estimated to be in his late twenties or early thirties.
