African National Congress Minister in Presidency, Trevor Manuel, addressed 65 ANC volunteers in Eastridge in Mitchells Plain yesterday.
After the minister left the gathering, it is alleged that Democratic Alliance members wearing the party’s t-shirts and caps entered the hall, physically intimidating the ANC volunteers.
ANC Member of Parliament for Mitchells Plain, Marius Fransman says they have taken the matter to the local police station and are planning to inform the Independent Electoral Commission.
“This is unacceptable, the DA is trying to make Mitchells Plain a no go area for any political party” said Fransman.
No one was seriously injured but valuables were lost in the encounter.
