A teen has killed a robber and injured another after catching them in his home.

It is alleged the teenager's mother and sister were the house when held by the suspects in their Rondebosch East home on Friday morning.

"The son of the owner came home and stumbled upon the two suspects, aged 28 and 30, “said Police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut.

"There was a confrontation and the son stabbed both alleged robbers and one died on the scene."
The other man was arrested at the Hanover Park Day Hospital on charges of house robbery and an inquest docket has been opened.

The family says they are lost for words over the incident.

The teenager’s mother said "We are still coming to grips with what happened and we're all still in shock."
